Accessibility statement
Our commitment to making the Hawaii Sky Mall catalog usable for travellers of every ability.
1. Standard we target
Hawaii Sky Mall targets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA conformance. Every page is built mobile-first with semantic HTML, full keyboard navigation, and ARIA attributes where native semantics are insufficient.
2. Specific measures we take
- Colour contrast: body copy on paper meets ≥ 7:1; UI controls meet ≥ 4.5:1. Brand colours (Pacific aqua, sunset coral, pineapple gold, coconut cream, lava ink) were chosen with WebAIM's contrast checker.
- Keyboard navigation: every link, button and form field is reachable in tab order with a visible focus ring (3 px Pacific aqua outline, 2 px offset).
- Screen reader semantics: headings flow h1 → h2 → h3, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) are correctly marked, and decorative SVG carries
aria-hidden. - Alt text: every meaningful image has a descriptive alt attribute. Decorative illustrations are marked aria-hidden.
- Reduced motion: the marquee and ticker respect
prefers-reduced-motion: reduce. - Forms: the search form uses
<label for>, inline error text, and submission via Enter on any field. - Cookie notice: dismissible via keyboard, focus trap respected, role="dialog" with aria-label.
3. Known issues
- Date pickers fall back to the native browser control; some legacy browsers show inconsistent contrast.
- The Pacific board's deal grid does not announce sort changes via aria-live; sort is on the to-do list.
4. How to report a barrier
If something on this site is hard to use with a screen reader, keyboard, magnifier or assistive software, please email aloha@hawaiiskymall.com with the subject A11Y. Tell us the page URL, the browser and assistive tech you're using, and what didn't work. We aim to acknowledge within one business day and post a fix or workaround within five.
5. Compatibility statement
We test against the two most recent major versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android. Tested screen readers: VoiceOver (macOS & iOS), TalkBack (Android), NVDA and JAWS (Windows).
6. Conformance review date
Last automated audit: May 22, 2026 (axe-core, no critical or serious findings on landing, search, and catalog routes). Last manual review with screen reader: May 22, 2026.
